Welcome to Swiss Canton Quest. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and safeguarded when you use our iOS mobile application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
We believe in minimizing data collection. The App operates primarily on your device, and we do not require you to create an account or provide personal identifiers (like your name or email address) to use the core features.
A. Location Data (CoreLocation & MapKit)
- How we use it: The App requires access to your device's location to verify if you are physically present within a specific Swiss Canton to unlock a digital seal.
- How it is processed: Location checks are performed on-demand only when you press the "Collect Seal" button. The App uses Apple’s native tools to reverse-geocode your coordinates into an administrative area (Canton).
- Data Storage: We do not track you in the background. We do not store your GPS coordinates on our servers, nor do we sell your location history to third parties.
B. Local Device Data (Your Progress)
- Your collected stamps, unlock dates, and passport progress are saved locally on your device (using Apple's UserDefaults and iCloud).
- If you delete the App from your device, this local data is erased. We do not currently store a backup of your progress on our servers.
C. Analytics and Crash Data (Opt-In Only)
- To improve the App and fix bugs, we use Google Firebase (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics).
- Consent: In compliance with the GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), this tracking is disabled by default. It is only activated if you explicitly tap "Accept & Continue" on the privacy consent screen.
- What is collected (if opted in): Anonymous usage data (e.g., which buttons are tapped) and crash logs (e.g., device model, iOS version, and the line of code that caused a crash). No personally identifiable information (PII) is linked to this data.
2. Third-Party Services and Affiliate Links
The App contains "Plan your trip" buttons and external links to third-party travel services (such as GetYourGuide, Booking.com, Omio, or others).
- Affiliate Commissions: Please be aware that these are Affiliate Links. This means that if you click on these links and make a booking or purchase, we may earn a financial commission or compensation at no additional cost to you. This affiliate revenue helps support the development and maintenance of the App.
- Data Tracking via Third Parties: We do not share your personal data with these third parties. However, when you click an affiliate link, the third-party platform (e.g., GetYourGuide) may place a tracking cookie on your device's browser to attribute the sale to our App.
